Methodology note
What is a 3AM Cleaning Test?
A 3AM Cleaning Test is QuietBabyGear's way of measuring what happens after a baby product is used, when a parent is tired, the room is quiet, and cleanup still has to happen before the next use.
3AM is a scenario, not a literal requirement
By 3AM, we mean the low-light, half-awake parent scenario: one hand free, a quiet room, and very little patience for complicated cleanup. A product can look easy in daylight and feel very different when it has to be reset quietly at night.
What we measure
| Metric | What it captures |
|---|---|
| MCT | How long it takes to reset the product for the next use. |
| SSS | How loud or disruptive the product is in a quiet room. |
| OOH | Whether the product can be started, held, or reset with one hand free. |
| Reset friction | Filters, chambers, warnings, drying steps, and parts that slow a tired parent down. |
What counts as cleaning reset time?
Cleaning reset time starts when use ends and stops when the product is reasonably ready to dry, store, or use again. For a manual aspirator, that may mean rinsing a few parts and replacing a disposable filter. For an electric aspirator, it may include removing the chamber, rinsing tips, avoiding backflow, and keeping the device body dry.
What this test does not claim
This test does not measure medical effectiveness, diagnose congestion, or recommend treatment. It only measures product handling and cleanup friction.
